Almaville Volunteer Fire Department is an active member in the Almaville, Smyrna, and Weakley Lane communities hosting many events throughout the year while providing emergency and non-emergency services 24 hours a day, all while operating on donations and without financial compensation to the members. Several exciting opportunities are now available for those looking to be a part of a great corner stone in their community. Almaville Volunteer Fire Department has opened many positions from Firefighter, Auxiliary member, and those looking to be a part of our Junior program.
Firefighter
ALMAVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ACTIVELY RECRUITING FIREFIGHTERS TO JOIN IN ON, POSSIBLY, THE STATE’S MOST COMPREHENSIVE RECRUIT SCHOOL FOR VOLUNTEERS. AVFD HAS BEEN STATE COMMISSION APPROVED TO HOST ONE OF THE MOST THOROUGH CLASSES AVAILABLE FOR VOLUNTEERS THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO GRADUATE WITH A HIGHLY COMPETITIVE LEVEL OF CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING EVEN AMONGST CAREER FIREFIGHTERS. THE TRAINING, TACTICS, AND WORK AT ALMAVILLE ARE EQUIVALENT TO ANY FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE STATE, CAREER OR VOLUNTEER. THE FIREFIGHTER POSITION WILL ALLOW THE CANDIDATE TO BE APART OF THIS GREAT CLASS AND RECEIVE EXCEPTIONAL TRAINING THROUGHOUT THEIR FIRST YEAR AS A MEMBER. THE CANDIDATE AT AVFD WILL BE ISSUED ALL EQUIPMENT NEEDED AND SIMPLY MUST PROVIDE A DEDICATION AND DRIVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. Junior Firefighter
Almaville Volunteer Fire Department is in search of individuals in the community ages 15-18 that are interested in learning more about the fire service while participating in trainings and being an active member with the department. Junior members will learn firefighter skills by participating in their own training nights designed specifically for them and their needs. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the department held trainings in nearly every aspect as the firefighters in order to better themselves in emergency services. Almaville’s Junior program has had great success in the past with preparing their younger members to succeed in emergency services both career and volunteer. Many of our Lieutenants, Captains, and Chiefs, past and present, have been apart of the Junior program. Having experience volunteering for the community as a Junior Firefighter is also a great addition to a college application or work application, showing that the individual is a strong worker, works well in a team, and gives back to their community. Auxiliary
Almaville Volunteer Fire Department is in search of new members to be apart of our excellent auxiliary team. The auxiliary members provide for the firefighters on extended emergency scenes by bringing food and drinks and assisting with some clean up activities. They are also an active part in the department fund raising and community events, working hand-in-hand with the firefighting membership to provide a great service to the public.
